Exam Exam structure
What parts does the exam consist of?
The exam in each session starts at 10:00. It consists of a written and oral part and lasts respectively: in the written part up to 120 minutes at the A1 level, up to 160 minutes at the A2 level, up to 190 minutes at the B1 level, up to 250 minutes at the B2 and C1 levels, and the oral part from 10 ( A1) up to 20 minutes (C1).
The written part is divided into 4 modules (at the end of each module, a minimum 10-minute break is planned):
- listening comprehension (in this part of the exam the candidates listen to the recordings once or twice; while listening, they solve the tasks: they mark the correct answers or fill in gaps in the text or answer the questions; the tasks test the understanding of the listened text),
- comprehension of written texts (in this part of the exam, the candidates read the texts; the task consists of different texts - single-sentence texts, paragraphs, longer texts – and requires marking or answering questions about each of them; the tasks check the general and selective understanding of the texts),
- grammatical correctness (solving the tasks in this part of the exam consists in recognizing and marking the correct form - selection task - or creating and entering the correct grammatical form; the purpose of this part of the test is to check the ability to use the correct grammatical forms in practice, therefore the tasks are usually in the form of short texts, which form a logical whole),
- written statement (the task of the test takers is to select one of the sets of tasks and write texts as instructed; topics are formulated in such a way that they do not require specialist knowledge; the purpose of this part of the exam is to test the ability to formulate a written statement, not to test the knowledge of the test takers on a specific topic).
In the oral part the candidate's task is to create an oral statement based on various materials - textual and iconographic ones; candidates draw one of three sets, each of which consists of two or three tasks, and then perform the tasks in front of a 2- or 3-person committee.
To pass the exam the candidates should obtain min. 50% (A1-B1) or 60% (C1) of the points in each test module).
